How to lose weight and get ready for your next job interview

Like it or not it is a mere fact that your appearance and your weight play a role in your career. Although this is an awful discrimination it happens in some cases and it is in your hands to get prepared in advance and provide yourself with another plus. People who have a weight problem should not in any way get disappointed, youíre other skills and abilities are far more important than you weight. Fortunately there are a lot of ways to lose weight and look and feel better. Below we will outline a few easy tips on how to lose weight and get ready for your next job interview.

Watch what you wear in the interview

Before getting into the weight loss details a nice tip that you can follow is to wear clothes that ‘hide’ your excess weight. Fashion experts have a lot to say about how clothes can make your body look better even if you have a few (or more) extra pounds. Choosing the right clothes can make you look more professional and relaxed and above all this will give you more courage to handle the interview. Do not wear larger size clothes; some people believe that by wearing larger clothes they look thinner. Wrong. Avoid larger clothes and excess fabric and choose pre-shaped outfits.

Start a diet a number of weeks (or months) before the interview

Although you should take care of your diet all year long there are some cases (like attending an interview) that need a special attention. For these events you can follow a balanced diet for at least 2 weeks (minimum) that will help you lose a few pounds. Your diet should not be very strict as this will have a negative impact on your energy levels but it can be a careful diet paying special attention on what you eat and drink. During this period avoid (but not completely abandon) foods that are full in fats, sugars and carbohydrates; instead prefer foods that are high in protein and fiber. Items like fish, tuna, fresh salads, fruits, poultry, low fat dairy and water are great and can make a difference in your weight in a short amount of time. Stay away from soft drinks, sugar alcohols drinks and cream coffees and consume lots of water and fresh fruit juices. You need every vitamin you can get and these foods and drinks have a lot to offer.

Exercise for your body and your mind

Exercise has a lot to offer to your health, weight loss and state of mind. Before attending an interview you should exercise regularly not only to lose calories but most importantly to clear your mind and be ready for the big day. Try to do a variety of exercises (aerobics, walking, running, weight lifting etc) on a regular basis and as the time for the interview becomes closer try to engage into a sport that you like. Sports and physical activities are great ways to lose weight while having fun. They are also superb ways to relax and gain confidence for the interview.

Getting ready for an interview both physically and mentally can play a very important role on your performance. If at the same time you manage to lose a few pounds during the process this will boost your self confidence right at the moment you need it. Good luck!
