You’ve decided that internet marketing is going to be your field of choice once you graduate and you’re trying to figure out which path of study will prime you the most for this field. Since, there are no direct internet marketing degrees, you’ll have to choose a degree that supplements some other avenues you should pursue on your own.

Internet marketing is not only a very swift moving field, but there is no direct field of study or degree. That’s why your best bet is to get a degree that will give you a good theoretical foundation that you can draw from for years to come.

1. Marketing

In studying marketing you’ll gain the knowledge necessary to thrive as a online marketer in any field. Although the program will very from school to school, this degree will teach you a wide range of skills related to branding and growing businesses. Although, the online landscape differs a little bit, the basic marketing principles will still apply.

It will help if you supplement your marketing education with other online marketing sources, such as the top blogs from leaders in the field.

2. Psychology

Psychology can be a very valuable degree. It will help you gain a deeper understanding of how human being operate. A lot of what you do in internet marketing is converting traffic into sales. By having an in-depth understanding of how human beings process the world and make decisions you’ll be able to use trigger points to get the to take action.

Overall, any of the above will put you in a good position to succeed as an internet marketer. However, the real work comes in what you’ll put in outside of the classroom. Things like reading outside of your discipline and learning the skills needed to succeed as an internet marketer will set you apart.
